The Hannover artist Peter Heber (*1956 Süderbrarup) is exhibiting new paintings from various series of pictures in the Sprengel Focus room. In his large-format works, he uses a variety of techniques and a highly experimental approach to the painter’s pallet to explore structures and pictorial states that range from delicately glazed to highly pasty works. His abstract paintings often operate in a monochrome spectrum of colours that take up diversified natural processes. But it is not only the external nature of a landscape or of a geological or atmospheric state that inspires him, for he also engages with artists of the past such as William Turner and Leonardo da Vinci.
