The reconstructed “Merzbau” in its 1933 version is on permanent view at the museum. It was re-built by Peter Bissegger from 1981-1983, in consultation with Ernst Schwitters and was based on three existing photographs.

Two additional rooms are devoted to alternating exhibitions of Kurt Schwitters’ work to offer visitors an overview of the artist’s work. Other works by Kurt Schwitters can also be viewed in other parts of the Sprengel Museum Hannover.
